Our History

Twelve Mile Creek Church (TMCC) is a church planted in Weddington North Carolina in February 2010.

Our Name

Why is it called Twelve Mile Creek Church? Twelve Mile Creek is a local natural landmark. It meanders through Wesley Chapel, Weddington, and Waxhaw before emptying into the Catawba River and its name is interwoven through local history. We believe that Christian ministry and discipleship needs to happen first and foremost in local churches. So, we wanted a name that tied the church to the community and indicated our desire for local impact. Further, it can be representative of the “living water” (John 4:10,11) found through life in Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit (John 7:37-39).

What Now?

So now here we are, and God has called a Core Team to plant this local church in Weddington, NC.  We are pumped about the entire adventure!  It will be a marathon, not a sprint!   We are not looking to be the next best and biggest church nor are we looking to video ourselves all over the world. The team has a huge heart for: the Bible, deep discipleship, and all types of missions.

What should I wear to Twelve Mile Creek Church?

Come as you are.  TMCC is a casual atmosphere.  You are welcome to dress in your “Sunday best” or completely casual. We have no expectation regarding this issue and simply hope that you come prepared in mind and spirit to worship and learn about our great God.

Do you have childcare?

We do not currently have childcare during the worship service, though we expect to provide it as it becomes needed. TMCC values having children learning about Jesus Christ alongside their parents in a family atmosphere, so we encourage you to bring your children into the service. We view children not as a distraction, but as a delight.
